Position Summary :
This position is part of our Affordable Housing Assurance team, supporting clients across the US from our Chennai office in a hybrid global delivery model. We are seeking an Audit Manager to lead and manage audit engagements in the Residential Real Estate sector, with a specialized focus on Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and HUD compliance audits. This role is ideal for professionals with deep expertise in affordable housing programs and a commitment to delivering high-quality, regulatory-compliant audit services.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead audits for LIHTC and HUD-funded projects, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, HUD guidelines, and IRS Section 42 requirements.
- Review and prepare financial statements, audit workpapers, and compliance reports in accordance with LIHTC regulations, IRS Section 42, and state housing finance agency requirements.
- Drive client engagements and ensure timely delivery of audit deliverables.
- Provide strategic guidance on compliance monitoring, risk mitigation, and internal control assessments for affordable housing entities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality service and insights to clients navigating complex affordable housing regulations.
- Mentor and train audit staff on LIHTC / HUD-specific audit procedures and evolving regulatory standards.
- Stay current with industry trends, including tax credit pricing, occupancy performance, and legislative changes impacting affordable housing.
- Utilize proprietary tools and data analytics to enhance audit quality and client insights.
- Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development in the affordable housing audit space.
- Demonstrate professional creativity and provide actionable insights to improve operations
Qualifications :
CPA or CA certification required.Minimum 5 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on affordable housing or LIHTC engagements.In-depth knowledge of affordable housing regulations, HUD audit protocols, and LIHTC program sensitivities.Experience with audit platforms such as CaseWare, CCH, and data analytics tools.Ability to work effectively in a global delivery model and manage cross-border teams.Exceptional organizational, communication, and presentation (verbal and written) skills.What We Offer :
