Job Title : Instructional Designer (Higher Education Focus)
Reports To : Associate Director Learning design
Position Summary :
The Instructional Designer will collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, and academic leadership to design, develop, and enhance engaging, effective, and accessible instructional materials and courses aligned with best practices in higher education pedagogy. This role requires strong expertise in academic instructional design methodologies, curriculum development, and a comprehensive understanding of US higher education standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with faculty and academic teams to design and develop innovative, evidence-based instructional materials for online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses.
- Apply instructional design theories and best practices specific to higher education settings.
- Ensure course content aligns with institutional academic standards, accreditation requirements, and learning outcomes.
- Develop detailed course design documents, storyboards, and assessments that promote critical thinking and active learning.
- Provide guidance and training to vendors on instructional design best practices, technology tools, and pedagogical strategies.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in instructional design and higher education.
- Conduct quality assurance and usability testing on course content to ensure accessibility and learner engagement.
- Manage vendors and ensure timely delivery of the content
- Think out of box in creating engagement and interaction elements in the course Bachelors or Masters degree in IT related domains
- Minimum of 4-8 years of instructional design experience, preferably within US universities or higher education institutions.
- Strong knowledge of academic instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, Backward Design, Blooms Taxonomy).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored for academic audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508) and universal design for learning (UDL) principles.
- Experience with assessment design, rubrics, and alignment to learning objectives.
