JOB SUMMARY :
The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for defining and leading the banks technology architecture roadmap across cloud, infrastructure, applications, data, and integration layers. The role focuses on modernizing legacy systems and enabling scalable, secure, and resilient technology foundations to support digital growth.
This position will guide cross-functional teams in building a cloud-native, API-first, and data-driven ecosystem and ensuring the architecture supports business agility, compliance, and reliability. The architect will be hands-on in solution design, technology selection, and implementation guidance while building the enterprise architecture practice for the bank.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Enterprise Architecture & Modernization :
- Define the enterprise-wide target architecture covering application, data, infrastructure, and integration layers.
- Drive modernization of legacy systems towards cloud-native, microservices, and API-based models.
- Create and maintain transition architectures to ensure smooth migration with minimal disruption to operations.
- Guide the engineering teams in designing scalable and reusable solutions aligned with the overall architecture vision.
- Collaborate with business and product teams to ensure technology enables digital and growth objectives.
2. Cloud Architecture & Platform Management :
Own and manage the multi-cloud environment, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security.Define cloud architecture standards, patterns, and guardrails aligned with regulatory and security needs.Implement observability and cost optimization practices.Work with the infrastructure and DevOps teams to establish automated CI / CD pipelines and Site Reliability Engine (SRE)-based operations.Monitor and manage cloud expenses and optimize utilization across environments.3. API Banking & Integration :
Architect and manage the API Gateway and integration layer supporting BaaS partnerships and internal applications.Ensure API stability, security, and governance across internal and external stakeholders.Maintain technical resilience and uptime of the integration platforms critical to the partner ecosystems.4. Data Architecture & AI Readiness :
Work closely with the Head of Data Analytics & Engineering to define the banks data architecture framework.Support the buildout of the enterprise Data Lake, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance.Design architecture components that enable AI / ML adoption, such as model hosting, API exposure, and data pipeline integration.Ensure data integrity, trust, and availability across systems to support analytics and decision-making.5. Technology Governance & Compliance :
Establish lightweight architecture governance that enables speed without compromising compliance or risk control.Ensure architecture designs adhere to TOGAF or equivalent frameworks adapted for digital transformation.Work with Security and Risk teams to embed compliance and data protection within every technology layer.Review major solution architectures and ensure alignment with enterprise standards.6. Engineering Practices & Team Collaboration :
Promote modern engineering practices like DevSecOps , container orchestration (Kubernetes), service mesh, observability, and automation as required and feasible.Mentor in-house development teams on technology selection, coding standards, and best practices.Drive collaboration between business, product, and technology teams for seamless delivery of solutions.Provide architecture reviews and technical oversight during QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS :Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.TOGAF or equivalent certification preferred.Cloud certification (AWS or GCP Architect) is required.Kubernetes, DevOps, or Security certifications will be an advantage.SME Space - Functional KnowledgeGood understanding of data architecture principles, AI / ML enablement, and analytics platform integration.Strong technical mind with a balance of both infrastructure and application architectureStrong knowledge of banking systems such as Core Banking (Finacle preferred), Treasury, Lending (LMS), CRM, Middleware, and Digital Channels.Exposure to BaaS, Open Banking, and fintech integrations .Familiarity with RBI guidelines, IT security, and data protection norms applicable to banking systems.(ref : hirist.tech)
