Job Title : Hydrologist cum Mathematical Modeller
Job Summary
The Hydrologist cum Mathematical Modeller will provide specialized technical expertise in hydrological studies, hydro-morphological assessments, and mathematical modelling to support major water resources projects, particularly in the flood management and drainage sectors. The expert will develop and run advanced modelling software, validate results with field data, and assess technical and sustainable solutions for drainage and flood interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, compile, and analyse available hydrological and hydraulic data.
- Check, verify, and validate field survey data on a day-to-day basis.
- Develop hydro-morpho-dynamic models (1D coupled with 2D, including sediment transport modules) and conduct calibration and validation.
- Frame, run, and interpret modelling outputs using MIKE 1D / 2D, HEC-HMS 1D / 2D, or equivalent software.
- Assess technical viability of options for flood management and drainage systems.
- Analyse sustainability of dredging and desiltation interventions.
- Provide modelling-based guidance for project planning, design, and implementation.
- Support preparation of reports, documentation, and technical presentations.
Qualifications & Experience
Master's Degree in Hydrology / Water Resources / Modellin g.Minimum 10 years of professional experience in hydrological studies, hydro-morphological assessments, or mathematical modelling for water resources projects.Proven expertise in MIKE 1D / 2D, HEC-HMS 1D / 2D, or similar modelling tools.Experience in flood management / drainage sector with exposure to sediment transport, mapping, and design aspects.Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.Familiarity with peripheral domains of water resource management.Duration & Input
