Staff SW Engineer (Java Full stack, GenAI, Open Search, 8+ years' exp)

As a Visa Software Engineer you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing designing building and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. The Responsibilities:

• Proven experience leading teams that have delivered highquality largescale enterpriseclass applications.
• Demonstrates relevant technical working knowledge to understand requirements.
• You are a Java expert and you have experience with REST APIs JSON and exposure to containerbased technologies.
• Working experience in React and Vertx is a plus.
• Working experience with Kafka OpenSearch/Elasticsearch is a must.
• Design implement and optimize complex search applications using OpenSearch or Elasticsearch including index design query DSL aggregations synonyms analyzers and relevance tuning.
• Develop scalable ingestion frameworks that handle highthroughput realtime search indexing.
• Own search performance endtoend: latency improvements shard planning cluster optimization caching strategies and load testing.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business search needs into technical solutions (e.g. relevance scoring ranking models semantic search).
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex search issues involving distributed systems cluster health shards replication and indexing failures.
• Implement observability for search systems: monitoring alerting dashboards query profiling and cluster metrics.
• Should have very good understanding in GenAI technology and built product using any LLM.
• Handson experience with database technologies like MSSQL and Oracle.
• You have strong experience with Agile development incorporating Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery utilizing technologies such as GIT Maven Jenkins Chef Sonar JUnit.
• Ensure proper metrics instrumentation in software components to help facilitate realtime and remote troubleshooting/performance monitoring.
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux and working in a shell environment. Understand and own component security analysis including code and data flow review.
• Collaborate with security team to implement and verify secure coding techniques.
• Curiosity and creativity to understand customer requirements and processes and propose improvements.
• Ability to see and understand the big picture while staying focused on immediate goals.
• Strong work ethic to focus on our goals.
• Experience with TestDriven Development methodology.
• Proven experience as a technical leader with ability to understand requirements and independently architect design and build the solution.
• Passion for working with people and mentoring junior engineers.
• As an endtoend champion for your products strong debugging and Unix skills to help support Operations teams.
• Ability to write clean coherent code following established coding guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Highly driven resourceful and resultsoriented.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications :

Basic Qualifications:
8 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or with an Advanced degree.
Java expert with experience in REST APIs JSON and containerbased technologies.
Working experience with Kafka Elasticsearch/OpenSearch and Spark.
Handson expertise with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch including:
Indexing strategies and schema design
Query DSL aggregations fulltext search analyzers custom tokenization
Cluster configuration scaling shard allocation and performance tuning
Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch or Lucenelevel customization.
Experience managing multinode OpenSearch/Elastic clusters optimizing relevancy and resolving complex cluster issues.
Solid knowledge of distributed systems concepts: replication fault tolerance data partitioning consistency models.
Strong understanding of GenAI technologies and experience building a product using any LLM.
Handson experience with databases such as MSSQL and Oracle.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GIT Maven Jenkins Chef Sonar JUnit.
Experience with Agile and TestDriven Development methodology.
