Linux Software Repository Maintainer

Nakshatra Systems is looking forward to hire a linux software repository maintainer who can service and manage the integrity of a software repository (update / upgrade / patch etc).

This is not a system's administrator profile job.

Looking for immediate joiners.

This is a full time contract job of 1 year - work from home.

Candidate will have to sign a legal agreement that will include NDA and NCA.

Since nature is work from home, a good broadband internet connection with IPv6 facility is mandatory for remote logins and work, failing to which contract can be terminated immediately.

Required technical skills :

=============================

Proficient in linux, bash scripting, C and python.

Compiling and creating software from source code.(knowledge of gcc and its cflags dflags prefix etc)

Knowledge of build system tools like autotools , meson, ninja, cmake, make, pkg-config, scons etc

Keeping track of software dependencies.

Patching - creating / providing / managing software patches.

Ability to understand and create Makefiles as necessary.

Monitoring and staying current with CVE's.

Maintaining Changelogs and other documentation.

Providing bug fixes. Debugging with gdb if needed.

Reviewing changes.

knowledge of cvs and git.

Connect with upstream developer for solutions if needed to get issues resolved.

Good troubleshooting skills.

Knowledge of Slackware Linux a HUGE plus as candidates with knowledge of slackware will be prioritized over to those with knowledge of redhat / debian.

Non-technical skills required :

Should be fluent in english with good verbal and written skills

Ability to work in a team as well as independently.

Should be able to resolve assigned tasks in the specified time-frame / deadlines.
