The Merchant Acquisition team plays a key role in expanding the organizations payments and business ecosystem.
As a Merchant Acquisition Manager, you will develop strategies to onboard, retain, and grow merchants across sectors while ensuring seamless product delivery and operational efficiency.
Youll collaborate with leadership, product, and marketing teams to scale merchant partnerships and strengthen market presence in the SME and enterprise segments.
ABOUT THE ROLE :
- Build and execute the merchant acquisition roadmap to drive payment acceptance growth across categories (retail, F&B, healthcare, e-commerce, etc.).
- Identify and target high-potential merchant clusters; build acquisition playbooks to drive volume and revenue.
- Lead partnerships with aggregators, NBFCs, and payment solution providers to enhance distribution.
- Track and analyze merchant performance GMV, transaction value, churn, and engagement rates.
- Develop pricing, incentive, and loyalty programs to improve retention and lifetime value.
- Work closely with product teams to refine onboarding journeys, risk controls, and POS / payment features.
- Manage field and channel partners, ensuring compliance and quality acquisition.
- Communicate progress, risks, and competitive insights to senior stakeholders regularly.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR :
Education : MBA / Post-graduate in Business, Marketing, or Economics.Experience : 5 to 9 years in Merchant Acquisition, Payments, POS Business, or Fintech Sales.Hands-on experience in acquiring and managing merchants in SME / MSME segments.Deep understanding of the digital payments ecosystem QR, UPI, POS, and online gateways.Strong analytical and negotiation skills; comfortable with data tools like Excel, Power BI, or CRM systems.Proven ability to collaborate across multiple teams and deliver under tight timelines.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Prior experience in fintech or banking ecosystems preferred.(ref : iimjobs.com)
