Principal Consultant - Data Center Operations

Job Objective :

The Principal Consultant - Data Center Operations Expert will be responsible for leading, managing, and optimizing data Center operations. The role involves developing customized optimization strategies, ensuring compliance with industry standards, overseeing procurement processes, and managing stakeholders to deliver efficient, secure, and sustainable data Center solutions.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Develop customized data center optimization plans, including recommendations for technology upgrades, capacity planning, redundancy strategies, and cost-effective solutions to address identified challenges.
• Oversee all aspects of the PMU, coordinate between stakeholders, manage timelines and budgets, and ensure that the project adheres to strategic objectives and national policies.
• Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive bid management plan and provide support in evaluating technical and financial bids.
• Conduct comprehensive data center audits to evaluate current infrastructure, capacity utilization, power usage, cooling systems, security protocols, and compliance with industry standards.
• Support the onboarding of the System Integrator (SI).
• Ensure the quality and performance of the data center meet service-level agreements (SLAs).
• Forecast future data center requirements based on the organization's needs and data volume, ensuring sufficient capacity to support anticipated needs.
• Ensure compliance with data center security standards, including physical security and cybersecurity.
• Consistently review and refresh security measures to safeguard against unauthorized access and possible data breaches.
• Provide guidance during the implementation of new data center solutions, including project management, vendor oversight, and technical support.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Propose cost-effective solutions to optimize data center operations.
• Work closely with clients, providing expert advice, and delivering innovative solutions to optimize DC operations.
• Generate detailed reports on project progress, budget allocation, and resource utilization.
• Assist the Department in procurement plans for HSDC ICT infrastructure procurement.
• Should have sound knowledge of GFR rules, CVC Guidelines, State procurement policy, along with MeitY guidelines regarding IT procurement.
• Formulate and execute strategies that are in line with organizational objectives, ensuring that the procurement process effectively supports organizational goals.
• Manage and monitor project implementation from inception till completion.
• Oversee the integration of cloud-based solutions with on-premises data center operations, ensuring hybrid cloud strategies are aligned with project goals.
• Recommend and implement energy-efficient and sustainable practices in data center operations, such as green cooling technologies and renewable energy adoption.
• Manage contracts with third-party vendors and service providers, ensuring compliance with SLAs and performance metrics.
• Conduct regular disaster recovery (DR) drills and ensure DR plans are up-to-date and effective.
• Explore and implement automation and AI-driven solutions for data center operations to improve efficiency and reduce human error.
