We are building a growth-stage PE / VC fund with a dedicated focus on Indian manufacturing and industrials, backed by a family office. This is a rare opportunity to join a fund at inception, shape the research engine, and influence investment strategy from Day 1.
About the Role
This is a first-research-hire role with a clear pathway to leadership. Over 2–3 years, you will evolve from executing research to leading the research function, building processes, and managing a small analyst team.
You will work across the entire investment life cycle — from sourcing and screening companies to supporting due diligence, thesis building, and portfolio value-creation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Sourcing & Founder Engagement
Conduct screening calls and preliminary diligence with founders / management teams
Build high-quality target lists across manufacturing subsectors (primary + secondary research)
Coordinate meetings during the founder's India visits
Maintain long-term relationships with potential portfolio companies
Research & Analysis
Conduct deep company and industry research using MCA, market databases, and sector reports
Perform financial screening : revenue trends, margin quality, leverage, working capital cycles
Identify red flags and accounting irregularities through conversations with finance teams / auditors
Track subsector trends, competitive dynamics, and market opportunities
Support investment thesis development with data-backed insights
Pipeline & Ecosystem Building
Maintain structured pipeline dashboards and research repositories
Build and nurture networks across advisors, intermediaries, OEMs, and trade associations
Contribute to brand building, ecosystem presence, and LP outreach (as needed) Lifecycle Involvement
Participate in deal evaluation, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring where relevant

Effective alignment with Lean manufacturing advisors to accelerate value creation
Qualifications Required
MBA from Tier-1 (IIM / ISB) or strong Tier-2 (FMS, XLRI, JBIMS, SPJIMR, MDI, etc.)
3–5 years post-MBA experience in investment research, consulting, corporate strategy, financial analysis, or corporate development
Strong financial literacy (must be proficient with P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, MCA filings)
Excellent communication skills — especially for founder-level screening calls
Ability to operate independently in a high-ambiguity, high-accountability environment
Demonstrated analytical horsepower and ability to extract insights from complex data
Process-building orientation; comfort creating systems from scratch
Natural relationship-building skills and professional presence
Preferred
Engineering background (mechanical / chemical / industrial)
Experience in PE / VC, IB, or M&A
Familiarity with Indian manufacturing supply chains and industrial ecosystems
Experience in early-stage or entrepreneurial environments

The role demands independent judgment, proactive execution, and the ability to move work forward even when leadership is remote.
Office-based in Mumbai, with travel for site visits and company meetings.
