Director, SW Development -Eqlipse NPTR

Your role

will be key in ensuring the continued success of both our legacy solutions (which are being phased out) and the evolution of our current new offering which has been developed from scratch based on previous experiences. This gives a truly unique option to take over a well written and architectural sound newly developed product.

You, together with the QA manager, will lead the entire NPTR team. The two of you are expected to deliver high-quality and high-impact enhancements, customer adaptations, and platform support. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing hands-on technical knowledge with strong leadership and mentoring responsibilities. It is crucial you have previous documented personnel responsibility for a team of professionals.

Role Responsibilities

As a Director, your focus will be on-

Lead & Mentor : Coach, guide, and develop eight versatile engineers into stronger versions of themselves through consistent 1 : 1s, feedback loops, and development planning. You should be used to set-up team workshops to dive into team development sessions.

Set Direction : Define a clear strategy and establish team goals, using regular follow-ups to ensure alignment and progress.

Be Technical : Use your solid foundation in  AWS (Amazon EC2, EKS) ,  Kubernetes ,  Python , and  Java  to support architectural decisions, evaluate technical complexity, and provide help when needed.

Be quality aware : As part of the financial regulated industry quality is taken very seriously. To share our vision that we can never achieve our goals with just testing. Quality starts already at requirements gathering and all the way through development. Experience with tools such as SonarQube, Snyk, SonaType , etc. is a definite plus.

Support & Enhance : Oversee both maintenance of previous product versions and development of new features and customer adaptations.

Collaborate Multi-functionally : Partner with Product Planning and senior stakeholders to plan and prioritize effectively, manage expectations, and deliver on commitments that the team have made.

Communicate Effectively : Be a natural communicator—whether aligning with senior leadership, managing stakeholder expectations, or explaining technical trade-offs within the team.

Represent the Team and demonstrate Integrity : Be a vocal defender of the team and the decision that have been made. Having the courage to say “no” if needed!

We expect you to have

• Have been in the SW industry for 8+ years with 3+ of those in documented formal leadership role(s) with people and budget responsibility.
• A  passion for people leadership —you genuinely care about your team's well-being and professional growth and can demonstrate how you practically accomplishes that!. Your ability to inspire, mentor, and develop your team is as meaningful as your technical acumen.
• Experience working in  cloud-native environments , ideally with  Amazon EKS ,  EKS-A , EC2 ,  containerized deployments , and distributed systems.
• Strong proven analytical and decision-making skills —able to break down complexity, size work, and prioritize under changing conditions. If you know about Monte-Carlo based scheduling we definitely should talk!
