Job Summary
Vidyashilp Academy is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Behavioural Counsellor to provide expert behavioural counselling services for students. This role involves assessing, intervening, and supporting students facing emotional, behavioural, or social challenges, while strictly adhering to child protection laws, school SOPs, and ethical counselling standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Counselling & Intervention
- Conduct individual and group counselling sessions for students across all grades.
- Assess and implement Behavioural Intervention Plans (BIPs) in collaboration with teachers, parents, and relevant staff.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution support following SOP and child protection protocols.
- Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and staff to identify students at risk.
- Coordinate with families, mental health professionals, and NGOs for external referrals when needed.
- Lead case reviews for complex or high-risk cases, ensuring confidentiality and ethical standards.
2. Training & Awareness
Conduct workshops and awareness sessions for students, staff, and parents on mental health, emotional well-being, stress management, and child safety.Advise school staff on behavioural support strategies and best practices.Stay updated on child and adolescent psychology, trauma-informed care, and NEP 2020 guidelines.3. Reporting & Documentation
Maintain detailed, confidential records of counselling sessions, interventions, and student progress.Prepare reports for school leadership on behavioural trends and programme effectiveness.Follow all legal and ethical guidelines, including mandatory reporting under POCSO and the school’s SOPs.Qualifications
PhD or Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, or related field.Valid counselling certification or license.Minimum 5 years’ experience in school counselling or psychology.Hands-on experience with ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, and other behavioural or emotional challenges.Knowledge of child protection frameworks and legal compliance requirements.Key Competencies & Skills
Strong empathy and emotional intelligence.Expertise in behavioural interventions, crisis management, and child / adolescent mental health.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.Commitment to ethical counselling practices, confidentiality, and child safety.Application
