Job Description – Senior Quality Control Chemist

Job Title

Senior Quality Control Chemist – Unsaturated Polyester Resin Manufacturing

Location

SIDCO Industrial Estate, Thirumazhisai, Chennai

Role Overview

The  Senior Quality Control Chemist  will be responsible for leading and managing the quality control function in our  Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR) manufacturing unit . The role ensures that all raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products consistently meet the required quality standards through rigorous testing, documentation, and compliance practices.

In addition to core QC responsibilities, the candidate will play a key role in the  new plant expansion project  by collaborating with project, production, and environmental consultants. The chemist will contribute technical data, product specifications, and process documentation required for statutory approvals and environmental clearances.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control (Primary Role)

  • Raw Material Testing :  Conduct routine analysis of all incoming raw materials as per standard specifications and maintain accurate records.
  • In-Process & Finished Product Testing :  Verify and approve resin properties at all stages, including granting final QC clearance before dispatch.
  • Technical Documentation :  Prepare and periodically update  Technical Data Sheets (TDS)  and  Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)  for all product grades.
  • Competitor Analysis :  Periodically evaluate competitor resin samples and maintain comparative quality benchmarks.
  • Laboratory Management :  Oversee calibration, upkeep, and efficient functioning of all QC laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Product Development Support :  Assist R&D in developing new resin grades and improving existing formulations.
  • COA & Record Keeping :  Issue  Certificates of Analysis (COA)  for all shipments and maintain comprehensive QC documentation.
  • Trial Batches :  Conduct laboratory / pilot trials aimed at quality enhancement and cost optimization.
  • Reporting :  Submit  MIS reports  to management, covering quality performance, deviations, corrective actions, and continuous improvements.

Expansion Project Team Role

  • Act as a  core member  of the new plant expansion project for manufacturing  Unsaturated Polyester Resin , providing present and proposed product details to the  EIA / Environmental Consultant .
  • Collaborate with project, production, and consultant teams to design, standardize, and align QC systems with expansion project requirements.
  • Prepare, compile, and submit raw material compositions, finished product specifications, and process details to the Environmental Consultant for statutory and regulatory approvals.
  • Ensure timely coordination and accurate documentation to support  Environmental Clearance (EC) ,  EIA submissions , and other compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with the Production team to finalize and document proposed production capacities and resin grades for approval and reporting purposes.

    • Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Education :  MSc in Chemistry
  • Experience :  Minimum  5–8 years  in Quality Control within chemical / polymer / resin manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of  testing methods, QC protocols, and documentation practices .
  • Prior exposure to  EIA / Environmental Clearance documentation  is an added advantage.
