Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and product-oriented Lead Software Engineer-Web to lead our growing web team. You will play a strategic role in shaping the direction of our web platform — balancing hands-on development with leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration. This is a high-impact role where your technical decisions and leadership will influence how millions of users consume audio content daily.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership : Own architectural decisions and set technical standards to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of Pocket FM’s web applications.
Team Leadership : Mentor and grow a team of engineers, conduct technical reviews, and drive a culture of engineering excellence.
Strategic Influence : Partner closely with product leadership to align business goals with technical roadmap, influencing long-term product direction.
Cross-Team Collaboration : Act as a bridge across engineering, design, data, and product teams to deliver seamless and innovative user experiences.
Scalability & Performance : Drive initiatives for web performance optimization, SEO, accessibility, and internationalization to support global expansion.
Operational Excellence : Define best practices for monitoring, testing, CI / CD, and deployment strategies.
Innovation & Experimentation : Lead efforts in A / B testing, analytics integration, and experimentation to optimize user engagement.
Hands-On Contribution : Balance leadership with coding, ensuring delivery of critical, complex features when needed.

Requirements

6–9 years of professional experience in frontend / web development, with at least 2+ years of proven leadership experience (leading teams / projects).

Expert in JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js , and modern frontend ecosystems.

Strong experience with state management tools (Redux, Zustand, Recoil).

In-depth understanding of web performance, SEO, browser rendering , and accessibility.

Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design principles .

Proven track record of mentoring engineers, scaling teams, and improving engineering practices .

Experience working with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, build tools (Webpack, Vite, etc.).

Strong knowledge of automated testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library).

Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and align engineering with business objectives.

Nice to Have

Experience with Next.js or other SSR frameworks.

Exposure to internationalization, A / B testing, and advanced analytics .

Experience in fast-paced, high-growth startup environments .

Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and cloud platforms (AWS / GCP) .

Ability to scale engineering teams and contribute to hiring strategies.
