YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS INVOLVED?
As Principal Overhead Line Engineer, you will design of a range of Overhead Line Circuits at voltages ranging from 11kV to 400kV.
You will
- Preparing, reviewing, and approving of transmission line tower & foundation design including associated documents and accessories
- Preparing engineering documents related to transmission tower and foundation design.
- Designing as per relevant codes and standards
- Optimizing the overall weight of the tower and foundation with respect to tender quantity
- Performing Sag tension calculation and providing the approximate weight of the tower at the tender stage
- Designing of transmission tower, with the use of PLS Tower software for transmission line design
- Create all associated Engineering Design calculations and documentation
- Support the creation of all necessary material bill of quantity schedules.
- Attend site meetings (virtual) and provide ongoing design drawing changes / support as required during project build
- Reviewing designs produced by suppliers and clients to ensure designs are technically compliant and in line with current legislation and policies.
- Project Coordination :
- Actively coordinates with all other internal / external team members on moderately complex projects.
- Client Focus :
- Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers on moderately complex projects and may determine the key clients in some instances
- Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on moderately complex projects
- May offer other services to the clients
- Typically provides support to business development or pursuit activities
- The ability to design with PLS- CADD, Tower or similar.

Proven experience in the design of UK Overhead Line Circuits (Towers and / or Poles) at any voltage up to 400kV.Bachelor’s in Civil / Structural or Electrical EngineeringKnowledge of all applicable engineering standards.
