As Senior BIM Engineer – GeoEnvironmental Engineering, you will lead the design, development, and management of complex CAD and BIM models for multidisciplinary engineering and infrastructure projects. This role requires advanced technical proficiency, a strong understanding of industry standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams to deliver high-quality design solutions. An ideal candidate will have the ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to continuous improvement in processes and workflows.
Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and maintain detailed 2D and 3D CAD / BIM models and drawings for a variety of projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements and Australian standards.
- Lead the coordination and integration of digital design models across multiple disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
- Conduct quality checks and audits of deliverables to ensure compliance with project specifications and company standards.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers and other stakeholders to resolve design issues and optimise design solutions.
- Mentor and provide technical support to junior modellers and drafters, fostering skill development within the team.
- Utilise and contribute to libraries, templates, and standards to streamline modelling processes and improve efficiency.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements, tools, and industry best practices, recommending improvements where appropriate.
- Participate in project meetings, providing expert input on modelling strategies, design intent, and constructability.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities to meet deadlines and deliver exceptional results.
Required Skills and Behaviours
Understanding of Australian standards and codes relevant to drafting and design will be preferred.Proven experience in multidisciplinary coordination and clash detection; Ability to work collaboratively on a cloud CDE.Work autonomously and / or under minimum supervision; Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.Highly organised, with robust time management and prioritisation skills; Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.Adaptability to changing project requirements and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines; Track and manage workflows and delivery timelinesDemonstrated alignment with WSP’s values, risk management practices, and ethical standards.Software Proficiencies
Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D, 12D, OpenRoads, Infraworks, etc.Relevant Software training certificates including Autodesk Certified Professional in Civil 3D preferred.Qualifications
Degree in Civil Engineering or associated domains in Construction / Design Engineering.Membership of professional organisation preferred.Experience
Minimum of 8 years’ experience post qualification in civil infrastructure drafting and modelling.Past experience in Australian, NZ or UK projects is preferred but not essential.
