Job description
  • We are seeking a knowledgeable IT Systems Administrator with expertise in Microsoft Exchange Server to join our IT team.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and support of our Exchange environments, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration across the organization.
  • The Senior IT Systems Administrator participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Additional responsibilities include technical leadership, mentors other team members, and leading projects.
  • Skills (Must Have)

    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Exchange Server (2016, 2019, or later) and associated technologies.
    • Strong knowledge of administering Microsoft Exchange Online 365 environments and associated technologies.
    • Experience with working in hybrid Exchange environments (on-prem and 365) is a plus.
    • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation tasks.
    • Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, and related networking concepts.
    • Proven ability to speak comfortably with technical and non-technical users.
    • Expertise in speaking comfortably about complex system issues with non-technical users.
    • Proven track record of managing tasks and projects to completion successfully within SLA guidelines.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision and instruction.
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
    • Experience with infrastructure troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
    • Proven analytical skills and attention to the detail.

      Key Job Responsibilities

      Exchange Server Administration

    • Manage and maintain Microsoft Exchange Server environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
    • Monitor server health and performance, applying necessary patches and updates to ensure optimal operation.
    • User Account Management

    • Administer user accounts, distribution lists, and permissions in Exchange, including provisioning and deprovisioning as needed.
    • Implement and manage mailbox policies, retention policies, and compliance configurations.
    • Security and Compliance

    • Develop and enforce security policies related to Exchange, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational requirements.
    • Implement measures to protect against spam, malware, and unauthorized access.
    • Backup and Disaster Recovery

    • Establish and maintain backup and recovery procedures for Exchange environments.
    • Conduct regular testing of recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
    • Support and Troubleshooting

    • Provide advanced technical support for Exchange-related issues to end users and other IT staff.
    • Collaborate with support teams to resolve complex problems efficiently.
    • Collaborate with other IT staff to resolve complex technical problems.
    • Maintain knowledge and ability to perform hands on work on assigned systems.
    • Documentation and Reporting

    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of Exchange configurations, procedures, and changes.
    • Generate reports on system performance, user activity, and incident resolution for management review.
    • Contribute to and maintain knowledge base of common procedures and problem resolutions.
    • Project Involvement

    • Participate in IT projects related to Exchange upgrades, migrations, and integrations with other systems.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement IT initiatives and improvements.
    • Collaborate and communicate with team members, IT Team, and Leadership.
    • Advise and mentor junior members of the team on technical topics.
    • As part of the IT Technical Services team, provide system support on a 7x24 basis.
    • Collaborate with leaders and team members to plan, design, implement, operate, and optimize assigned systems.
    • Demonstrates and promotes strong customer service orientation.
    • Assumes individual accountability for own conduct and maintenance of professional attitude and appearance.
    • Approaches change in a positive manner, motivate staff to work as a team, accept constructive criticism and learn from it.
