Job Summary :
The Academic Counsellor is responsible for guiding and supporting students in their academic journey. This includes helping them choose suitable courses, addressing academic challenges, improving study habits, and setting academic and career goals. The counsellor serves as a bridge between students and academic departments, ensuring student success, retention, and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide one-on-one academic advising to students regarding course selection, academic planning, and goal setting.
Assist students in identifying and overcoming academic challenges and barriers to success.
Monitor student progress and provide timely interventions and referrals to appropriate support services.
Develop personalized academic plans in collaboration with students based on their abilities, interests, and goals.
Support students in understanding institutional policies, procedures, and graduation requirements.
Coordinate with faculty and academic departments to address student performance concerns.
Organize academic workshops on study skills, time management, and exam preparation.
Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress reports.
Participate in orientation and other student engagement activities.
Stay up-to-date with curriculum changes, new programs, and academic regulations.
Requirements
Qualifications :
Any Bachelor’s degree.
Prior experience in academic advising or student counselling (1–3 years minimum).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and professionalism.
Knowledge of academic programs, degree requirements, and institutional policies.
