Primary Function
The Technical Application Specialist – Orthopedics is responsible for providing technical expertise, clinical support, and training on orthopedic products and solutions to healthcare professionals. This role bridges the gap between clinical needs and product functionality, ensuring optimal product use, successful surgical outcomes, and high customer satisfaction.
- Clinical & Technical Support
- Provide on-site technical assistance during orthopedic surgeries, ensuring correct application of implants, instruments, and systems.
- Troubleshoot intraoperative issues and offer technical guidance to surgeons and OR staff.
- Support pre-operative planning and post-operative evaluations when required.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards during product use.
- Training & Education
- Conduct training sessions for surgeons, nurses, and distributors on product features, surgical techniques, and best practices.
- Assist in organizing workshops, cadaver labs, and continuing education programs.
- Develop educational materials, user manuals, and presentations tailored to different audiences.
- Sales & Product Support
- Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical input during customer meetings, demonstrations, and evaluations.
- Support new product launches by ensuring clinical readiness and effective onboarding of end users.
- Gather and communicate field feedback to R&D and product management teams to support continuous improvement.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of surgical cases, customer interactions, and training sessions.
- Prepare reports summarizing field activities, product performance, and customer feedback.
- Ensure all activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Experience :
Education : Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Nursing, Life Sciences, or related field.
Experience : Minimum 2–5 years of experience in clinical support, application specialist, or product specialist role in the orthopedic or medical device industry.
Experience assisting in orthopedic surgery (trauma, spine, joint replacement, or sports medicine preferred).
Technical Skills :
Strong understanding of orthopedic anatomy, surgical techniques, and medical devices.
Proficiency with digital tools for surgical planning, imaging, or navigation systems (if applicable).
Soft Skills :
Excellent communication, training, and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and under pressure in surgical environments. Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours as required.
