Role Overview

The Linux L2 Administrator provides advanced support for Linux-based systems, handling escalated issues from L1 support and ensuring system stability, security, and performance. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration : Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and related infrastructure.

Troubleshooting : Diagnose and resolve complex issues escalated from L1 support, including OS, hardware, and network problems.

Performance Optimization : Monitor and tune system performance, including kernel parameters and file systems.

Security Management : Implement security patches, perform audits, and ensure compliance with security policies.

High Availability & DR : Design and manage clustering, replication, and backup strategies for business continuity.

Automation : Develop scripts (Bash, Python) for automating routine tasks and configuration management.

Collaboration : Work with cross-functional teams (network, storage, application) to resolve issues and implement solutions.

Documentation : Maintain detailed technical documentation and contribute to process improvements.

Escalation Handling : Liaise with L3 support for unresolved or highly complex issues.

Required Skills

Strong knowledge of Linux OS (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).

Experience with networking protocols (TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP).

Familiarity with virtualization (VMware, KVM) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python).

Sensitivity Label : General

Understanding of monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix).

Knowledge of security hardening and compliance standards.

Hands-on experience with backup and recovery solutions.

Good communication and documentation skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field.

• Certifications : RHCSA / RHCE preferred;

ITIL is a plus.

4+ years of experience in Linux administration or technical support.
