Main Purpose :
To support seismic reservoir characterization and interpretation within integrated reservoir studies and well planning efforts. The role focuses on applying geophysical principles and learning industry-standard seismic data analysis techniques to enhance subsurface understanding, under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities :
Seismic Reservoir Characterization & Inversion Support
- Assist in generating basic seismic inversion products and attribute maps under supervision.
- Support rock physics modeling and perform fluid / lithology substitution studies.
- Help prepare synthetic seismograms (zero-offset and offset) for seismic ties.
- Contribute to wavelet extraction and well-to-seismic tie analyses.
- Participate in seismic attribute analysis (crossplots, elastic impedance, AVO) for fluid and lithology characterization.
- Learn and apply various seismic inversion techniques (e.g., post-stack, pre-stack, colored inversion).
- Support basic risk and uncertainty assessments in reservoir characterization studies.
Seismic Interpretation & Integration
Assist in seismic interpretation by identifying key horizons and fault structures.Generate synthetic seismograms and carry out well-to-seismic ties under guidance.Support map generation for structural and stratigraphic analysis.Collaborate with geologists, petrophysicists, and reservoir engineers to integrate geoscientific data.Learn and contribute to velocity modeling for depth conversion and volumetric estimation.Participate in quality control (QC) of seismic acquisition and processing projects.Well Planning & Placement
Support well planning activities for appraisal, development, and infill drilling.Use seismic attribute volumes to evaluate well targets and plan trajectories.Assist in identifying shallow hazards and overburden characterization for safe well placement.Provide preliminary geophysical inputs to drilling and operational teams.Project Support & Development Planning
Contribute to technical inputs for Declaration of Commerciality (DoC), Appraisal Plans, and Field Development Plans (FDP).Support seismic-based analysis of sandbody connectivity and reservoir continuity.Participate in cross-functional evaluations to assess resource potential and development options.Stakeholder Interaction & Knowledge Sharing
Prepare documentation, basic technical reports, and internal presentations.Engage in knowledge-sharing sessions, safety briefings, and collaborative discussions.Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards and PSC / JOA guidelines.Core Technical Competencies :
Foundational knowledge in key geophysical domains :Seismic interpretation and inversionRock physics modeling and fluid substitutionSynthetic seismogram generation and seismic tiesAVO analysis and seismic attribute interpretationFamiliarity (academic or professional) with geophysical software is preferred :Petrel, Hampson-Russell, Jason, RockDoc, Landmark, etc.Desirable Skills :
Exposure to programming (Python, MATLAB, C) and interest in data science or machine learning.Understanding of risk and uncertainty assessment in geophysical studies.Qualification :
Master’s degree in Geophysics from a recognized institutionExperience :
1–3 years of experience in oil & gas exploration and production.Relevant internship or project experience in seismic interpretation, inversion, or reservoir studies is a strong advantage.Interested candidates, kindly mail to enpcareers.hr@ril.com
