Job Purpose
- To lead wind resource-linked renewable energy project development for Aditya Birla Renewables Ltd.
- To assess wind potential across India for developing wind and hybrid projects that are financially viable and operationally sound.
- To provide in-depth analysis of wind characteristics such as speed, direction, turbulence, etc., using modern tools and field-based data, aiding strategic decisions on project development.
- To stay updated on regulatory changes, wind development trends, and emerging opportunities across regions for entering or expanding wind energy operations.
Job Context & Major Challenges
In India, acquiring high-quality, long-term meteorological data is difficult, particularly in remote areas.Accurately analyzing complex wind flow patterns affected by terrain, land cover, and obstacles requires advanced modeling skills.Natural variability in wind patterns and difficulty in predicting long-term trends introduces uncertainty in project feasibility.Continuous advancements in turbine and modeling technologies require analysts to stay updated to maximize output and ensure model relevance.Integration of environmental data (e.g., bird migration, noise norms) into assessments is essential to minimize environmental and community impact.Navigating diverse regional regulatory frameworks and ensuring project compliance with environmental and permitting processes presents an ongoing challenge.Principal Accountabilities & Supporting Actions
Data Analysis
Collect, process, and analyze meteorological data (wind speed, direction, turbulence) to identify site-specific wind patterns and trends.Site Assessment
Conduct site visits to assess topography, terrain, and physical obstructions.Evaluate suitability of sites for wind turbine placement and estimate potential energy yield.Modeling and Simulation
Use specialized software tools (e.g., WAsP, WindPro, OpenWind) for wind flow simulations and energy potential predictions.Develop wind resource maps, conduct statistical modeling, and generate technical reports.Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with internal stakeholders such as engineering, environmental, BD, and design teams.Communicate wind assessment findings effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including recommendations.Continuous Monitoring and Research
Monitor operational wind farms to validate forecasts and identify anomalies.Stay updated on wind resource assessment techniques, tools, and industry trends.Met Mast Installation for Energy Assessment
Identify and prioritize high-potential wind sites for met mast installation.Ensure timely installation and maintenance of met masts.Maintain a centralized database of real-time and historical wind data.Job Purpose of Direct Reports
