Senior Android Engineer @ ThumoWe’re building Africa’s super-app, starting with food delivery. Founded by a team from UC Berkeley, we’re fresh off a $1.2M funding round led by Soma Capital, Sequoia Scout Fund, A16Z Scout Fund, and top Silicon Valley angels. We’re hiring aSenior Android Engineerto build on top of our existing app and lead the architectural redesign as we prepare for expansion into new African markets. This fully remote role provides you with exposure to a fast-moving Silicon Valley startup while allowing you to work IST hours from anywhere in India.What you’ll doLead Android app development : Enhance and scale our production app, implementing new features and improving performance for tens of thousands of users.Architect a redesign : Take ownership of modernizing our Android codebase and defining scalable architecture for rapid growth.Make key product decisions : Collaborate closely with designers, backend engineers, and leadership to shape product direction.Integrate new designs : Translate Figma mockups and iOS feature parity requirements into polished, user-friendly Android experiences.Mentor & guide : Provide technical leadership to junior developers and help establish Android best practices across the team.Qualifications4+ years of professional Android development experience.Strong expertise inJavaandKotlin , with a track record of delivering production-grade apps.Experience architecting and scaling complex Android applications.Strong grasp of UI / UX standards, performance optimization, and debugging.Signals we love : IIT (especially Bombay / Delhi / Madras / Kanpur / Roorkee / Guwahati), exceptionalJEE rank(please include in CV), or any standout achievement in any field - tell us something interesting in your CV!Preferred SkillsExperience at food delivery or quick commerce companies (Zomato, Swiggy, Zepto, Blinkit, etc.)Background in startup environments or international teams.Familiarity withPHP / Laravelbackends.The roleCompensation : $1,200–$2,500 / month≈ ₹1.0–2.08 lakh / month≈ ₹12–25 LPABenefits : negotiableLocation : Fully remote, based anywhere in India (Indian working hours)If you’re passionate about building world-class Android apps and want to shape Africa’s next breakout technology company, apply via Linkedin Easy Apply!
