Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Planning & Delivery
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging units / lessons following the IB MYP or relevant IB programme's language criteria.
- Use differentiated instruction to cater to learners of diverse abilities and backgrounds.
- Integrate the language with other subject areas where appropriate (interdisciplinary learning).
- Assessment & Feedback
- Design formative and summative assessments that align with IB assessment criteria.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students to support their growth.
- Use data to monitor student progress and plan interventions as needed.
- Classroom Management & Environment
- Create an inclusive, respectful, motivating classroom atmosphere.
- Maintain discipline, safety, and a positive learning environment.
- Encourage student voice, student self-assessment, and reflection.
- Professional Collaboration
- Work with other language teachers to ensure coherence across grades.
- Participate in regular meetings : Department, MYP / IB planning, parent-teacher meetings.
- Share best practices; engage in continuous professional development especially in IB language pedagogy.
- Supporting Student Well-being and Beyond Academics
- Provide pastoral care; support students' social, emotional and learner-profile development.
- Support or lead co-curricular activities (language clubs, cultural events, etc.).
- Possibly supervise or lead projects / service activities connected to language and culture.
- Communication & Reporting
- Maintain records : attendance, assessments, behaviour, progress.
- Communicate with parents about student performance, concerns, and growth.
- Prepare reports as per IB / school policies.
- Other duties
- Participate in school events, field trips, cultural days.
- Stay current with developments in IB, language teaching, technology in education.
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor consistent with the role.
Qualifications & Experience
Academic qualifications :Bachelor's degree in Hindi or Marathi (or relevant language / literature)Postgraduate degree preferredB.Ed or teaching certification / licensingExperience :Experience teaching Grades 6-10 (middle / early secondary), preferably in IB MYP schools.Demonstrated ability to teach all language skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening).Experience differentiating instruction, handling mixed ability groups.Skills & Attributes :Fluent in both spoken and written Hindi / Marathi; strong grammar.Strong communicator; ability to engage students.Good classroom management.Knowledge of IB language acquisition / language & literature criteria.Reflective practitioner; committed to professional growth.Comfortable using technology for teaching and assessment.Desirable :Previous IB training or certification.Multilingual / familiarity with English medium instruction.Experience with cultural / literary components of Hindi / Marathi (poetry, drama, regional literature).Location : Kanakia International School - IB, Chembur
