About the Role :

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer / Data Modeller with deep expertise in dimensional data modelling, data warehousing, and SQL-based analytics architecture. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in designing data models optimized for business intelligence (BI), analytics, and reporting performance across platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Databricks SQL.

This is a hands-on, strategic role where youll collaborate with business analysts, BI developers, and data engineers to design scalable, high-performing analytical data models that drive decision-making and operational insights.

Core Responsibilities :

  • Design and implement dimensional data models (star and snowflake schemas) supporting reporting, dashboards, and advanced analytics.
  • Collaborate with data architects to ensure model consistency, data integrity, and reusability across data warehouse and lakehouse environments.
  • Apply Kimball or Inmon methodologies to structure data warehouses, ensuring high performance and maintainability.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and transformations for large-scale datasets.
  • Work closely with source system SMEs to understand data lineage, semantics, and integration points.
  • Ensure model compliance with data cataloging, metadata management, and governance frameworks.
  • Design models optimized for Power BI, Tableau, and other BI tools, enabling intuitive and performant reporting.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of data models, ETL logic, and mapping across data sources and analytics layers.

Key Skills & Qualifications :

  • 4-8 years of experience in data engineering or data modelling, with a strong focus on dimensional modelling and SQL development.
  • Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL frameworks, and analytics architecture.
  • Expertise in Kimball / Inmon methodologies for data warehouse design.
  • Proficiency in SQL (preferably Databricks SQL, T-SQL, or PL / SQL) and performance tuning techniques.
  • Experience with data cataloging, metadata, and data lineage tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra, or Apache Atlas).
  • Exposure to cloud data ecosystems such as Azure Data Lake, AWS Redshift, Snowflake, or Databricks.
  • Familiarity with ETL / ELT tools (ADF, Informatica, Talend, DBT, etc.) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business requirements into optimized data structures.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

    • Preferred Attributes :

  • Experience designing models in lakehouse or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Working knowledge of Python / PySpark for data transformations.
  • Exposure to data governance, data quality frameworks, and catalog integrations.
  • Certifications in Azure, AWS, or Databricks Data Engineering are a plus.
