Position Title : Team Lead - Client Onboarding Desk
Location : Mumbai (with responsibility for pan-India team)

Role Overview
The Team Lead - Client Onboarding Desk will be responsible for driving seamless and efficient client onboarding across all account types in the Wealth Management business, including Distribution, Power of Attorney (POA), Advisory, PMS, NDPMS, AIF and other investment solutions. The role involves managing a geographically distributed onboarding team, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, driving process improvements, and contributing to automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities :
Client Onboarding Management :
- Oversee end-to-end onboarding for diverse client account types across the wealth management business.
- Ensure smooth coordination between internal teams, clients, custodians, and external partners to deliver a superior client onboarding experience.
Team Leadership & Development :
Lead and manage onboarding specialists located across India, including the central team in Mumbai.Build capability within the team through structured training, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing.Set performance standards and monitor productivity and quality of client onboarding.Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management :
Stay abreast of evolving AML / KYC / Client Due Diligence regulations, SEBI guidelines, and other applicable compliance frameworks.Ensure consistent implementation of regulatory requirements across all client onboarding processes.Serve as a point of escalation for regulatory or process-related matters.Process Improvement & Automation
Collaborate with technology and operations teams to drive system automation and process enhancements for onboarding.Identify and implement best practices to reduce turnaround times and improve client satisfaction.Contribute to change management initiatives related to client lifecycle management.Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with Relationship Managers, Advisors, Compliance, Operations, and IT teams to ensure alignment and smooth onboarding execution.Provide regular reporting and insights on onboarding performance, bottlenecks, and risk areas.Qualifications & Experience :
Graduate / Postgraduate, preferably MBA in Finance / Operations or related field.Minimum 8-12 years of experience in Wealth Management / Private Banking / Capital Markets, with significant exposure to client onboarding and account opening processes.Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to KYC, AML, FATCA, CRS, and client lifecycle management.Proven track record of managing teams and delivering against service and compliance standards.Experience in process automation and technology-driven transformation will be an advantage.Key Skills & Competencies :
