Job Summary :

The Programs Associate will play a pivotal role at the intersection of financial and programmatic analysis. This role combines financial acumen with a deep understanding of the nonprofit and institutional landscape — helping the foundation make informed, data-driven, and contextually grounded grant-making decisions. The Associate will review partner financials alongside program performance, budgets, and outcomes to provide integrated insights. They will also contribute to building stronger systems within both the foundation and its partners — to ensure that financial planning, program design, and impact goals move together in alignment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting numbers with narratives, and who is equally comfortable analysing balance sheets and understanding field realities.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Integrated Financial & Programmatic Analysis

  • Conduct holistic reviews of nonprofit partners, combining financial health assessments with programmatic understanding
  • Analyse audited financials, balance sheets, budgets, and utilization reports alongside program outcomes and milestones
  • Provide integrated insights to inform grant decisions, strategic investments, and ongoing monitoring
  • Work with program leads to ensure budgets and results frameworks reflect realistic, mission aligned resource planning

2. Partner Engagement & Capacity Strengthening

  • Engage closely with nonprofit and institutional partners to review their financial and operational systems in the context of program goals
  • Support partners in strengthening internal processes related to finance, compliance, and program delivery
  • Liaise with auditors and financial consultants where necessary, ensuring clarity, transparency, and accountability
  • 3. Systems, Strategy & Learning

  • Contribute to the development of MIS tools and dashboards that bring together financial and programmatic data for strategic decision-making
  • Help synthesize trends, learning, and insights across the portfolio to strengthen the foundation’s strategy and processes
  • Support internal reviews, board presentations, and documentation of good practices
  • 4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with other program and operations team members to ensure that financial and programmatic dimensions of grants move in tandem
  • Participate in shaping internal systems and culture as the foundation builds a strong, professional, and learning-oriented institution
  • Provide inputs to strategic initiatives that improve efficiency, transparency, and partner support
  • 5. Field & Ecosystem Engagement

  • Travel periodically to visit partner organizations and projects, gaining on-ground understanding of how resources translate into results
  • Bring field insights into financial and strategic analysis, ensuring that financial perspectives are informed by real program contexts
  • Qualifications & Experience :

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Public Policy, or related fields
  • 3–6 years of experience in financial analysis, audit, consulting, or program management (experience with nonprofits preferred)
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting, compliance, and grant management
  • Analytical and relational skills — ability to interpret financials in programmatic terms
  • Proficiency in Excel, data analysis, and comfort with MIS or dashboard tools
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation abilities
