About the role
As an Application Engineer for Signal Processing and HDL, you will be responsible for developing HDL compatible Model-Based-Design for signal processing and communications. Model-Based-Design includes the use of MathWorks' MATLAB, Simulink and HDL code generation and verification products.
Responsibilities
Design, model, and simulate advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Communication systems using MATLAB and Simulink.
Develop optimized fixed-point algorithms suitable for hardware implementation and HDL conversions.
Convert high-level DSP / communication algorithms into efficient RTL code for FPGA and SoC platforms.
Implement, verify, and validate HDL code (VHDL / Verilog) for target hardware systems.
Perform hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and integration of algorithms on FPGA platforms.
Utilize MathWorks tools (MATLAB, Simulink, HDL Coder, HDL Verifier) and industry EDA tools (Xilinx Vivado, Vitis, System Generator) to streamline algorithm-to-hardware workflows.
Optimize design performance through simulation, synthesis, and timing closure processes.
Scope, plan, and manage multiple technical projects in parallel, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to align design, verification, and deployment activities.
Document design workflows, test results, and provide technical reports / presentations to stakeholders.
Communicate technical findings, challenges, and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Provide technical presentations, demonstrations, and training to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Contribute to knowledge sharing, mentoring, and fostering best practices within the team.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficient in MATLAB and Simulink for developing advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP), and Communication system simulations. Expertise in modelling and simulating signal processing or communication systems and generating optimized, fixed-point algorithms suitable for HDL conversions.
Experienced in deploying HDL algorithms to hardware platforms such as FPGAs and systems on a chip (SoC). Expertise in converting high-level algorithms to optimized RTL code.
Proficiency with HDLs (VHDL / Verilog) for code generation, verification and programming FPGAs.
Experience with MathWorks tools (MATLAB, Simulink, HDL Coder, HDL Verifier) or other EDA tools such as Xilinx Vivado, Vitis and System Generator.
Good communication skills and presentation abilities.
Capable of scoping and managing multiple technical projects simultaneously.
