Job Description : Linux Administrator (Level 2, 5-10 Years of Experience)
Role Overview
The Linux Administrator at Level 2 is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing Linux-based systems in enterprise environments. This role requires 5-10 years of experience in Linux system administration, with expertise in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and ensuring system reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- System Administration :
- Perform L2 and L3 operating system administration activities for Linux servers in both physical and virtual environments.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and routine scheduled tasks to ensure system health and uptime.
- Manage incident resolution as per defined processes, ensuring minimal downtime and quick recovery.
- Configuration and Optimization :
- Configure and manage Linux systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6, 7.X) and Red Hat clusters.
- Optimize system performance and ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Implement and manage security compliance measures for Linux systems.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution :
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to Linux systems, including connectivity, performance, and application deployment problems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address system-level challenges.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery :
- Manage data lifecycle and enterprise backups for Linux systems.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity.
- Documentation and Reporting :
- Draft and maintain procedures and documentation for Linux system configurations, changes, and incidents.
- Provide regular reports on system performance and compliance metrics.
- Collaboration and Support :
- Work closely with Level 1 support teams to resolve escalated issues.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of Linux systems within the enterprise architecture.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Expertise :Strong knowledge of Linux technologies, including RHEL 6, 7.X, and Red Hat clusters.Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Bash for automation and system management.Thorough understanding of TCP / IP fundamentals, DNS, FTP, SSH, and general networking technologies.Certifications (Preferred) :Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC).Soft Skills :Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and diagnostic abilities.Ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.Behavioral Competencies
