Job Summary :
We are seeking an experienced Core Banking QA Tester with deep expertise in core banking systems, payment channels, and end-to-end transaction testing. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience working with CBS platforms such as Finacle, Flexcube, TCS BaNCS, Temenos T24, Base24, Postilion, FIS Core Banking, or IST Switch, along with strong skills in functional, integration, and regression testing for banking products.
The role requires strong technical, analytical, and domain knowledge to ensure high-quality delivery of digital banking, payment systems, and transaction-processing features.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Core Banking System (CBS) Testing :
- Perform end-to-end testing of core banking systems such as Finacle, Flexcube, Base24, Postilion, TCS BaNCS, Temenos T24, FIS Core, or IST Switch.
- Validate functional workflows including customer onboarding, account opening, deposits, loans, collections, GL, and reconciliation.
- Execute system, integration, UAT, and regression test cycles for CBS modules.
- Verify system behaviors, data flows, and downstream integrations with payment systems, channels, and third-party interfaces.
2. Payment & Transaction Testing :
Conduct functional and technical testing for NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, UPI, ACH, SWIFT and other fund transfer mechanisms.Test ATM, POS, E-commerce transaction flows, including withdrawal, balance inquiry, card validation, and transaction settlement.Perform switch and issuer / acquirer transaction testing, including message formats (ISO 8583), authorization flows, and settlement cycles.3. Testing Using Simulators & Tools :
Use various payment network simulators such as :1. VISA VTS (Visa Test System)
2. Mastercard MDFS Simulator
3. T3 Simulator
4. IST Switch Testing Tools
Execute test scripts, transaction injections, and authorization message validations via simulators.Validate BIN tables, HSM configurations, cryptographic key exchanges, and issuer host interfaces (where applicable).4. Reconciliation, Settlement & GL Testing :
Perform validation of reconciliation processes, settlement posting, and accounting entries.Validate EOD / BOD processes, batch jobs, and financial balancing between systems.Ensure correctness of General Ledger (GL) postings, suspense account movement, and exception scenarios.5. Cards & Issuing Bank Processes :
Test issuing bank functionalities such as card embossing, card lifecycle management, PIN generation, hotlisting, replacements, and disputes.Review and validate dispute management workflows, chargeback processes, and settlement adjustments.6. SQL & Technical Skills :
Write and execute SQL queries to validate backend data, transaction statuses, ledger postings, and reconciliation results.Validate XML / JSON API responses for digital channel interactions.Support defect analysis by comparing database records, logs, and transaction trails.7. Quality Assurance & Documentation :
Create detailed test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and RTMs for CBS modules and transactions.Document test results, log defects, and work closely with development and business teams for resolution.Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for production defects and collaborate on improvements.Required Skills & Experience :
Core Banking & Payment Domain :
Must have experience in one or more CBS products : Finacle, Flexcube, TCS BaNCS, Temenos T24, Base24, Postilion, FIS, IST Switch.Strong understanding of retail banking, corporate banking, CASA, loans, deposits, GL, settlement, and clearing.Payment & Switching :
Deep knowledge of NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, UPI, SWIFT, ACH, and associated transaction flows.Experience with ATM / POS / E-commerce acquiring / issuing transaction lifecycle.Technical Requirements :
Hands-on with SQL / Oracle / DB2 queries.Understanding of ISO 8583 message formats, transaction logs, and switch routing.Experience using Visa / MasterCard simulators, T3, IST Switch tools.Testing Experience :
5-7 years of QA experience in core banking or payments domain.Strong experience in functional, integration, system, regression, and UAT support.Good understanding of EOD / BOD, reconciliation, settlement, and dispute processes.Soft Skills :
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.Ability to handle cross-functional coordination with business, development, and operations teams.Detail-oriented, structured, and proactive problem solver.Preferred Qualifications :
Certification in ISTQB, Payments (NACH, NPCI, VISA, MasterCard), or relevant banking certifications.Experience with automation testing in banking (optional).Exposure to digital banking channels (mobile / web banking).(ref : hirist.tech)
