Job Summary :

The MD Gastroenterologist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing diseases and disorders of the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. The role includes performing endoscopic procedures, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Diagnose and treat gastrointestinal diseases and conditions.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, and sigmoidoscopy.
  • Interpret test results and imaging related to the digestive tract.
  • Provide consultation and follow-up care to inpatients and outpatients.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and other specialists.
  • Educate patients about preventive care, dietary management, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, case discussions, and CME activities.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, medical ethics, and quality standards.

    • Qualification & Experience :

  • Education : MD / DNB in General Medicine with DM / DNB in Gastroenterology.
  • Experience : 0–15 years post-DM / DNB experience (depending on position level).
  • License / Registration : Must have valid registration with the Medical Council of India (NMC / State Medical Council).

    • Work Environment :

  • OPD and IPD consultations.
  • Endoscopy and procedure rooms.
  • Hospital-based or multispecialty clinic setup.

  • Patient satisfaction and treatment outcomes.
  • Volume of OPD / IPD consultations and procedures performed.
