Our focus spans across industries and we back startups raising Angel / Pre-Seed / Seed Capital. We are looking for a passionate and driven individual to join our Investor Relations Team as an Associate.
Role Summary
As an Associate - Investor Relations , you will play a pivotal role in managing relationships with current and potential investors, while also actively driving efforts to acquire new angel investors. This role is key to enhancing the engagement between our investor community and the exciting startups we support. In addition to overseeing investor communication and reporting, you will help expand our network of angel investors, connecting them with high-potential startups and ensuring the sustainability of our growing investor base.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the Indian startup ecosystem, engaging with both entrepreneurs and investors, and helping shape the future of early-stage investing in India.
Key Responsibilities
Investor Acquisition & Relationship Management
1. Prospect and acquire new angel investors by identifying and reaching out to high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), family offices, and corporate investors who have a keen interest in early-stage startups.
2. Build and nurture relationships with potential investors, introducing them to Startup Sherpas, and educating them about the value of angel investing.
3. Develop personalized engagement strategies for prospective investors, guiding them through the investment process and supporting their first investments.
4. Organize and lead investor onboarding sessions, ensuring new investors understand our processes, expectations, and the startups in our portfolio.
Investor Engagement & Communication
1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing angel investors, ensuring they are kept informed about portfolio developments, market trends, and new investment opportunities.
2. Prepare and send regular investor communications, including quarterly reports, newsletters, and updates on portfolio performance.
3. Coordinate investor meetings, webinars, and networking events to deepen investor engagement and maintain a strong community of angel investors.
Fundraising Support
1. Assist in the creation of pitch materials and investor decks to attract new investors and raise funds for specific portfolio companies or initiatives.
2. Support the fundraising process by managing communications with interested investors and facilitating the subscription process.
Portfolio Reporting & Monitoring
1. Track and report on portfolio performance, ensuring timely and transparent updates are shared with investors.
2. Gather and analyze data from portfolio companies to create detailed performance reports and insights for investors.
Event Management & Networking
1. Represent Startup Sherpas at industry events, conferences, and investor meetups to attract new angel investors and build brand awareness.
2. Organize and manage events tailored to investor networking, ensuring a smooth and valuable experience for attendees.
3. Build and maintain relationships with industry experts, co-investors, and entrepreneurs to enhance the value proposition for both current and potential investors.
Market Research & Insights
1. Keep up to date with industry trends, market shifts, and emerging investment opportunities to share with potential and existing investors.
2. Analyze market data and provide strategic insights that can inform investor decisions and enhance investment attractiveness.
Qualifications & Skills
1. Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Communications, or a related field.
2. Experience : Minimum 1 year of experience in investor relations, venture capital, private equity, finance, or a related field. Experience in sales, business development, or client acquisition is a plus.
3. Relationship Management : Proven ability to establish and maintain long-term, productive relationships with high-net-worth individuals, investors, and business professionals.
4. Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and investment opportunities clearly.
5. Proactive & Results-Driven : Strong initiative and drive to acquire new investors and enhance existing relationships. Ability to meet targets and build a robust pipeline of angel investors.
6. Organizational Skills : Highly organized with an ability to manage multiple investor relationships and engagements simultaneously.
7. Analytical Skills : Ability to analyze financials, market trends, and investor feedback to provide valuable insights and updates.
8. Passion : A deep interest in startups, venture capital, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
9. Tech-Savvy : Comfortable using CRM software, email marketing tools, and other digital platforms to manage investor relationships.
