Job Title : Technical Assistant to Director
Department Office of the Director Pune
Reporting To Director
Location Pune (with frequent travel to all units, project sites, mines, EPC vendors, and suppliers)
Grade / Level Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager Know-How : Strong technical + managerial knowledge in integrated steel plant, mining value chain, regulatory and compliance framework. Problem Solving : Complex, non-routine, multi-variable. Accountability : Directly supports Director in driving performance across operations, quality, cost, projects, compliance, and business development.
Job Purpose To act as the technical, analytical, compliance, and coordination backbone for the Director by providing deep operational insights, data-driven decision support, regulatory preparedness, project monitoring, commercial evaluation, and crossfunctional alignment across the entire steel plant and mining value chain. This role ensures that the Director receives accurate, timely, decision-ready information and that the organisation executes decisions with discipline, speed, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities (Detailed) :
A. Technical, Operational & Mining Support
Track and analyse daily, weekly, and monthly performance of Pellet, DRI, SMS, Rolling Mills, Power Plant, Mines (Ore Movement), Logistics, and EPC projects.
Prepare technical summaries for deviations in productivity, quality, yield, energy consumption, mining output, grade variations, and maintenance.
Conduct RCA for breakdowns, production losses, safety incidents, mining disruptions, and bottlenecks.
Support DIRECTOR in evaluating improvement proposals (Capex, debottlenecking, productivity, MD compliance, mine planning, technology upgrades).
Understand and track MD terms, obligations, and compliance timelines (can be trained).
B. Data Analytics, Cost Modelling, MIS & Reporting
Prepare advanced dashboards (Excel + Power BI) for DIRECTOR : Production, Dispatch, Power, RM / CM, Quality, Mining Output, Cost Trends.
Build cost models and benchmarks : Pellet, DRI, SMS, RM, Power, Logistics, Mining operations.
Prepare vendor comparison sheets, EPC evaluation models, scenario analysis, and business case simulations.
Highlight abnormalities, risks, chronic losses, and improvement opportunities using data-driven insights.
Prepare decision-ready comparison decks and executive dashboards for DIRECTOR.
C. DIRECTOR Office Coordination & Closure Management
Ensure follow-up, tracking, and closure of Director instructions across all departments.
Independently drive follow-ups with plant heads, project teams, EPC vendors, consultants, statutory bodies, and corporate champions.
Escalate delays promptly when deadlines slip.
Prepare pre-reads, briefing notes, summary documents, and communication drafts for Director.
Schedule meetings, draft MOMs, maintain trackers, and ensure 100% closure.
D. Compliance, Statutory & Regulatory Preparedness
Stay fully updated on statutory submissions and regulatory requirements related to : Mines, Forest Clearance, EC, Consent to Operate, Railways, Safety, Energy, and Factory Act.
Track compliance timelines, documentation requirements, and follow-up with concerned teams.
Coordinate with legal, mining, safety, and environmental departments to ensure no non-compliance.
F. Business Development (New Areas)
Explore and support feasibility studies for new opportunities :
o Renewables (Solar, Wind, Hybrid models)
o Transmission Line Tower (TLT) Business o New mines, beneficiation plants, logistics corridors
o New product lines and value-added processes
Conduct market research, competitor benchmarking, and prepare BD concept notes.
G. Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with department heads, external agencies, government officials, statutory authorities, consultants, EPC vendors, suppliers, and group leadership.
Maintain high confidentiality and maturity in communications

Educational Qualifications
B.Tech / BE (Mechanical / Metallurgy / Electrical / Mining / Industrial / Production)
Preferred : MBA (Operations / Strategy / Analytics) or M.Tech

Experience Requirements
5 12 years experience in integrated steel plants, mining operations, EPC coordination, or technical-commercial roles.
Experience in analytics, project follow-up, coordination roles, or CXO office preferred.
Strong understanding of plant KPIs, mining compliance, costing, and data analytics.
