The ideal candidate will lead the architecture, deployment, and optimization of large-scale database environments while mentoring a team of specialists and ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability.Key Responsibilities : Lead theYugabyteDBanddistributed databaseteam, setting the technical vision and execution roadmap.Overseedesign, deployment, scaling, and performance tuningof large distributed database clusters.Define and enforcestandards, best practices, and operational frameworksfor data systems.Collaborate withapplication and enterprise architectsto integrate database solutions across business applications.Drivehigh availability (HA) ,disaster recovery (DR), andoperational excellenceacross environments.Mentor and guide database engineers and specialists, building technical depth within the team.Partner withDevOps, SRE, and infrastructure teamsto automate deployments, monitoring, and upgrades.Develop and own thedata architecture roadmap, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.Required Skills & Experience : 10+ years of experience indatabase engineering, architecture, or platform leadershiproles.Proven hands-on expertise withYugabyteDBor equivalentdistributed SQL systems(e.G., CockroachDB, Google Spanner).Strong understanding ofdistributed systems concepts— replication, sharding, consistency models, and fault tolerance.Demonstratedleadership and mentoringexperience in managing technical teams.Deep knowledge ofperformance tuning ,query optimization, andcapacity planning .Experience withcloud platforms(AWS, GCP, Azure) andKubernetes-based deployments .Strategic and operational mindset with strong problem-solving and communication skills.Nice to Have : Experience managingmulti-region or hybrid clouddatabase architectures.Familiarity withdata observability, governance, and securityframeworks.Contributions toopen-source projectsor distributed database communities.
