junior accountant job involves maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, and assisting senior accountants with financial statements, tax filings, and audits. Key responsibilities include managing accounts payable / receivable, performing bank reconciliations, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The role requires strong analytical skills and proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Key responsibilities

Financial record maintenance : Posting journal entries, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.

Accounts payable and receivable : Processing invoices, managing bills, and ensuring timely payments to vendors and collection from clients.

Financial reporting : Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.

Reconciliation : Performing bank and account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Payroll : Administering monthly payroll and processing payroll taxes.

Audit support : Gathering documents and assisting with internal and external audits.

Compliance : Ensuring all financial activities comply with state and federal regulations, GAAP standards, and company policies.

Qualifications and skills

Education : A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is standard.

Experience : Previous experience as a junior accountant or in a similar role is often required.

Software proficiency : Expertise in accounting software (like QuickBooks, SAP, or Tally) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel are essential.

Requirements

Work experience as an Accountant. Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks. Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
