Job Summary
The Small Molecules Business Leader will be responsible for developing and executing strategic and tactical plans for small molecules to maximize reach, accelerate growth, and increase penetration / share in the market. This role will be pivotal in achieving and exceeding revenue targets for the small molecules business and will involve collaboration with various internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical excipients industry, possess strong influencing skills, and have experience in strategic business development and regulatory matters.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Execution
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic approach and tactical plans for small molecules to maximize market reach, drive growth, and increase market share.
- Partner with Zonal Heads , Regulatory , and Validation Services teams to create push and pull plans to drive business success for small molecules.
- Lead efforts to monitor regulatory changes , market trends , and competition , ensuring alignment with business goals and localization initiatives.
- Define and implement GTM (Go-To-Market) and pricing strategies to ensure continuous growth and profitability for small molecules.
Revenue and Pipeline Management
Be responsible for achieving and exceeding revenue targets for the small molecules business.Manage the pipeline and maintain accurate forecasting and reporting to ensure business growth is on track.Training and Organizational Capability Building
Lead, develop, and implement training programs to build organizational capabilities and enhance team performance.Channel and Distributor Strategy
Collaborate with channel managers , country , and zonal heads to develop distributor strategies that penetrate untapped customers and markets.Industry Representation
Participate in industry forums, regulatory bodies , BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) , Government Agencies , and Health-Law Networks (HLN) to represent Merck and build relationships with key stakeholders and customers.Collaboration with Marketing and Communications
Work with the Corporate Communication / Marcom team to design and run marketing communications initiatives to promote the small molecules business.Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant majors such as Chemistry , Biochemistry , Biotechnology , or related fields.15+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical excipients industry, in roles such as sales , business development , or strategic planning .Strong technical knowledge of excipient products and the ability to provide techno-commercial support to the commercial team.Solid experience in shaping business strategy and executing plans in the small molecules space .Demonstrated ability to influence local and global stakeholders , including government authorities , on regulatory and policy-shaping topics.Desired Skills
