We're looking for an experienced Engagement Manager - Taxation to join our team. In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for leading and managing all tax-related decisions and activities for our organization. You'll ensure we maintain tax compliance, stay ahead of new tax laws, and proactively identify opportunities for tax optimization.

As an Engagement Manager, you'll be a key leader, guiding our tax strategy and operations. You'll be the primary point of contact for clients or internal stakeholders, managing all aspects of the tax engagement from start to finish. This includes overseeing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables while maintaining strong relationships. Your work will directly impact our financial health and legal standing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Tax Planning & Strategy : Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies to minimize our effective tax rate while ensuring full compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations (federal, state, and local).
- Manage Tax Compliance : Oversee the preparation, review, and timely filing of all corporate income tax returns (e.g., Form 1120, 1065, etc.) and non-income tax returns (e.g., sales and use tax, property tax, payroll tax).
- Conduct Tax Research & Analysis : Stay up-to-date on changes in tax legislation, regulations, and case law. Conduct in-depth tax research to analyze the impact on the business and provide actionable recommendations.
- Lead Tax Audits & Examinations : Prepare for and lead tax audits conducted by various government agencies (e.g., IRS, state tax authorities). Serve as the primary liaison and advocate for the company, managing all communications and information requests.
- Client & Stakeholder Management : Serve as the main point of contact for clients or internal business units. Build and maintain strong relationships, understand their needs, and provide expert tax advice and solutions.
- Team Leadership & Development : Mentor and guide a team of tax professionals. Foster a collaborative environment, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional growth of your team members.
- Identify Tax Opportunities : Proactively identify and implement opportunities for tax savings, credits, and incentives. This includes analyzing business operations, transactions, and structuring.
- Financial Reporting : Assist with tax provisions for financial statements (ASC 740) and provide guidance on tax implications for accounting and business A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree in Taxation (MST) or a Juris Doctor (JD) is a significant plus.
- A CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) status is highly preferred.
- 5+ years of professional tax experience, with a focus on corporate tax compliance and consulting. Experience in a public accounting firm is a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a team or leading a portfolio of clients / engagements.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax laws and apply them to real-world business scenarios.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency with tax software and research tools (e.g., CCH, Thomson Reuters, etc.).
- A proactive and results-oriented mindset with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
