Freelance Opportunity : Senior Full Stack Engineer (InterSystems Cache / IRIS + Angular)

Role Description

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer (Cache + Angular) to contribute to the development of modern web applications built on InterSystems Cache / IRIS and Angular. This is a senior-level freelance role requiring deep backend ObjectScript experience along with strong frontend development expertise.

The engineer will work closely with an Agile team to design new features, enhance system performance, and maintain high-quality code across both backend and UI layers.

Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, and maintain backend solutions using InterSystems Cache / IRIS, ObjectScript, and Object Technology .

Build and consume SOAP / REST Web Services and integrate backend logic with UI frameworks.

Write optimized Object SQL queries and ensure data integrity and performance.

Develop front-end components using Angular, JavaScript, jQuery , and mGateway WebLink / EWD .

Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-up meetings and quarterly PI Planning.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver high-quality features.

Conduct code reviews, ensure adherence to coding standards, and support continuous improvement.

Troubleshoot issues across full-stack components and ensure smooth application functioning.

Work independently in a highly virtual environment while maintaining proactive communication.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of professional experience in full-stack development .

Strong backend expertise with :

InterSystems Cache / IRIS

ObjectScript

InterSystems Object Technology

Object SQL

Web Services (creating and consuming)

Strong frontend experience with :

Angular

JavaScript, jQuery

mGateway WebLink / EWD

Ability to deliver high-performance, scalable code in an Agile environment.

Strong understanding of object-oriented concepts and distributed data modeling.

Preferred Skills

Experience with GitHub or Perforce for version control.

Experience using VS Code , including GitHub Copilot for Cache / IRIS development.

Experience with Agile practices (2-week sprints, stand-ups, PI Planning).

Experience using Jira for story management and reporting.

Familiarity with healthcare or diagnostic lab environments.

Understanding of HL7 v2.x / v3.x, OERDB, TopNet , and related interface standards.

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
