Game Designer
Role Overview
As a Game Designer at our AI Gaming Stealth Startup, you will shape narrative-driven gameplay systems where player choices and character dynamics create fresh stories every time. You will design core loops, prototypes, and mechanics that make characters feel alive, relationships feel earned, and drama feel personal. You will collaborate closely with narrative, AI, and engineering teams to define how player agency drives emotional and strategic outcomes in a modular story environment.
You will help define :
- How characters react, remember, and evolve over time
- How relationships and trust influence the narrative and gameplay
- How players drive story discovery through action, exploration, and choice
Key Responsibilities
Design, prototype, and balance core gameplay systems (relationship, inventory, haunting / atmosphere, discovery, etc.).Translate narrative arcs into interactive gameplay beats and moment-to-moment objectivesCollaborate with AI and engineering to define state-based logic and autonomous character behaviorsPartner with AI team and writers to systematize dialogue triggers, emotional reactions, and consequence structuresBuild and maintain design documentation, flow diagrams, and narrative-system referencesConduct playtests, analyze player behavior , and refine for clarity, pacing, and impactChampion player experience and clarity , ensuring gameplay supports emotional tone and story intentWhat We Are Looking For
3 to 5 years of experience in Game Design on narrative, simulation, or systems-heavy titlesStrong grasp of interactive storytelling and emergent gameplaySolid experience with Unity (graybox prototyping, prefabs, gameplay iteration)Comfort working with state machines, behavior trees, or node-based narrative toolsAbility to collaborate well across design, writing, engineering, and art disciplinesComfort with ambiguity and working without rigid pipelinesA mindset that embraces rapid prototyping, testing, and fearless iterationBias toward action : build, test, learn, refineExcellent communication and documentation skillsBonus Skills
Experience designing for AI-driven characters or systemic narrative mechanicsBackground in life-sim, relationship sims, or branching narrative gamesFluency in UX for narrative clarity and player choice readabilityFamiliarity with metrics for player choices, emotion, intent, or memory-like systemsExperience running structured playtests and synthesizing insights into improvementsWhat You Will Be Building
