As a Scientific Graphic Designer, you will combine scientific expertise with creative design skills to produce accurate and visually engaging materials. Your work will include scientific illustrations, graphical abstracts, journal cover images, infographics, posters, brochures, and more. You will be responsible for ensuring that all visuals are both scientifically accurate and visually impactful, aligned with client requirements.

Responsibilities

Develop visually engaging graphical abstracts that succinctly represent the essence of a scientific study.

Read and comprehend scientific manuscripts to extract key visual elements and concepts.

Develop storyboards that outline the visual narrative, ensuring alignment with the scientific content and client objectives.

Generate rough sketches to illustrate the initial visual concepts, collaborating closely with researchers, writers, and clients to refine and finalize the visual representation.

Reviewing your peers and freelancers’ outputs to ensure they meet client expectations and are delivery-ready.

Qualifications

Graduate / PhD degree in STEM fields (especially Biology / Biotechnology / Medicine / Chemistry / Physics / Engineering)

3-5 years of experience in scientific graphic designing, communicating science and complex research into visually engaging output.

Advanced skills in Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop).

Creating 3D designs in Blender is an added advantage.

Experience in scientific graphic designing, medical illustrations, journal cover designs, and graphical abstract.

An understanding of the scientific publishing & science communication landscape
