Backup & Storage Specialist – 6 to 8 Years
Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise backup platforms (Commvault, Veeam, Rubrik, Veritas NetBackup, or equivalent).
Manage enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel) from vendors like Dell EMC, NetApp, HPE, or Pure Storage.
Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource optimization for storage arrays and backup environments.
Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot backup jobs, restore requests, replication, and deduplication systems.
Implement and manage disaster recovery (DR) strategies, validate DR runbooks, and ensure RTO / RPO compliance.
Ensure data security and integrity across backup and storage platforms with encryption, access controls, and monitoring.
Maintain system patching, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle management of storage and backup infrastructure.
Collaborate with server, network, and security teams to ensure end-to-end data protection and availability.
Participate in IT infrastructure projects such as data center migrations, storage refresh, and backup solution upgrades.
Provide L2 & L3 support for escalated incidents, root cause analysis, and permanent fixes.
Maintain up-to-date documentation including architecture diagrams, SOPs, knowledge base, and asset records.
Ensure compliance with internal data retention policies, audit requirements, and industry standards (ISO, ITIL, NIST).
Automate and optimize backup / storage administrative tasks through scripting or vendor-native tools.
Provide regular status reports, storage utilization metrics, backup success rates, and capacity forecasts to management.
