Job Title : Maintenance Engineer Wood Industry

Reporting to : Factory Manager / Plant Head
Job Purpose :
To plan, execute, and oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance of all woodworking machines, utilities, and factory infrastructure to ensure maximum equipment uptime, quality output, and safe working conditions.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Prepare and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all woodworking and support machines (panel saw, edge bander, cold press, hot press, sanding, CNC, post forming, etc.).
- Ensure timely breakdown maintenance with minimum production loss.
- Analyze recurring issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
2. Machine & Utility Management
Oversee maintenance of all utilities : air compressors, dust collectors, generators, and electrical panels.Ensure calibration, alignment, and lubrication of all machines at defined intervals.Monitor machine performance and efficiency; identify and correct abnormalities.3. Technical Supervision
Supervise maintenance technicians and allocate tasks based on priority.Verify the quality of repair work and machine performance after maintenance.Train technicians on standard maintenance practices and safety procedures.4. Spare Parts & Inventory Control
Maintain and update the spare parts master list and stock register.Plan and propose procurement of critical spares in advance.Ensure proper storage and tracking of maintenance tools and materials.5. Safety & Compliance
Enforce all machine safety protocols and lock-out / tag-out procedures.Conduct safety inspections of electrical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic lines.Support the EHS team in compliance with statutory and audit requirements.6. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain records for all maintenance activities, breakdown logs, and preventive schedules.Prepare and submit weekly / monthly maintenance reports (downtime, cost, issue summary).Track and analyze machine downtime trends to improve reliability.7. Project & Continuous Improvement
Lead new machine installation, testing, and commissioning.Implement energy-saving and productivity improvement projects.Recommend technical upgrades and retrofitting solutions for old machinery.Qualification & Experience :
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering.4–8 years of experience in factory maintenance, preferably in wood, furniture, or door manufacturing units.Hands-on experience in woodworking machinery, CNCs, hydraulic / pneumatic systems, and electrical control panels.Skills Required :
Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability.Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems and planning.Familiarity with PLCs, drives, sensors, and automation (preferred).Good coordination with production, purchase, and QA teams.Proficient in documentation and reporting (Excel, maintenance logs).
