About The Role

As a Senior Big Data DBA at NCG (NetConnect Global), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the performance, stability, and scalability of mission-critical database systems. You will support large-scale Postgres and Greenplum environments, drive automation initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance data infrastructure. This role provides opportunities for professional growth through exposure to cutting-edge big data technologies, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices, while also allowing you to mentor junior DBAs and influence best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support for distributed and mission-critical database environments, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Maintain and optimize Postgres and Greenplum databases, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Support HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery), replication clusters, backup / restore strategies, and disaster recovery testing.
• Contribute to the automation of routine DBA tasks (using Ansible, Python, Shell, or Perl) and establish operational best practices.
• Partner with DevOps and SRE teams to modernize database environments through CI / CD and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, performing root cause analysis across application, network, database, and infrastructure layers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, cloud, analytics) to implement scalable data solutions.
• Provide guidance and training to L1 / L2 database support teams globally.
• Participate in on-call rotation for weekend and after-hours production support as required.
