Job Description : Financial Controller / Commercial Head (Startup) Role Summary We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Financial Controller / Commercial Head to own financial discipline, commercial governance, and business partnering in a high-growth startup environment. This role is a CFO-lite position, driving financial control while enabling rapid scaling, strong unit economics, and investor confidence. Key Responsibilities Financial Planning & Control - Build budgets and forecasts, track burn rate, and provide actionable MIS. - Manage cash flows, collections, and vendor payments with a sharp focus on liquidity. - Maintain investor-ready financial statements and dashboards. Commercial Management - Design pricing, discounting, and payment models aligned with startup growth needs. - Negotiate customer / vendor contracts with focus on cash terms and risk protection. - Track project-level profitability and recommend corrective actions. Risk, Compliance & Governance - Set up lean but strong internal controls to prevent leakage / fraud. - Ensure GST, TDS, PF, and other compliance are timely and error-free. - Prepare for audits and support due diligence during fundraising rounds. Strategic & Business Partnering - Analyze unit economics and contribution margins at customer / project levels. - Support new city / vertical launches with financial models and ROI assessment. - Partner with founders / leadership on strategic decisions and fundraising. - Work with product / tech teams to digitize finance & project monitoring processes. Team Leadership - Build and mentor a lean finance & commercial team. - Instill a culture of agility, ownership, and transparency. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Accuracy of cash flow forecasts vs actuals. - Reduction in receivable cycle & improvement in cash conversion. - Gross margin / contribution margin improvement. - % compliance adherence with zero penalties. - Project-level profitability visibility within defined timelines. Candidate Profile - Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA Finance with 6–12 years of experience. - Prior exposure to startups, marketplaces, or consumer-tech preferred. - Strong hands-on approach — willing to roll up sleeves, not just manage. - Excellent negotiation and commercial skills. - Experience in fundraising support and investor communication a plus.Skills Required
