Job Title : Marine Safety Officer
Job Description :
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations, implementing quality and safety policies, and proposing continuous performance improvement plans.
- Evaluate and maintain compliance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) and other relevant international rules and regulations.
- Develop and implement quality, health, safety, environmental, and ethics policies to ensure a safe working environment.
- Analyze and propose continuous performance improvement plans to enhance operational efficiency.
- Assist in Quality, Health, Safety, Security, Environment (QHSSE) responsibilities for assigned vessels.
- Perform on-duty tasks as required.
- Maintain effective communication between ashore departments and vessels.
- Monitor and follow ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO, and flag audits to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Conduct QHSSE audits or inquiries onboard assigned vessels to identify areas for improvement.
- Investigate accidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Provide training to shore department and ship staff on QHSSE management practices.
- Participate in regulations monitoring and stay updated on industry developments.
- Serve as a liaison point for flag administrations and support the Fleet department with classification societies.
- Be available for worldwide travel.
Minimum Qualifications :
To be considered for this role, you must have :
Officer licenses preferred.Training in ISM and ISO internal auditor, CSO, and accident investigation.Fluent English language skills.Knowledge of QHSSE management principles.Experience :
Prior officer experience or a background in the shipping industry is essential for this position.
