Role : Alation Data Catalog Expert

We are seeking an experienced Alation Data Catalog Expert to design, implement, and manage our enterprise data catalog platform. This role will drive data discovery, governance, lineage, and stewardship initiatives, enabling business and technical teams to trust, access, and leverage data effectively. The ideal candidate will have strong metadata management, SQL, and governance skills, along with hands-on experience in Alation configuration, integration, and adoption strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation, configuration, and administration of Alation Data Catalog.
• Manage metadata ingestion and curation from multiple sources (databases, BI tools, cloud warehouses, data lakes).
• Build and maintain business glossaries, taxonomies, and governance policies within Alation.
• Define and configure roles, permissions, and security policies (SSO, LDAP, Entra ID, etc.).
• Establish and maintain data lineage and impact analysis within the catalog.
• Collaborate with data stewards, analysts, engineers, and governance teams to ensure consistent metadata enrichment.
• Develop training and enablement programs to drive adoption across business and technical teams.
• Leverage APIs, scripting (Python / REST), and automation to extend Alation’s functionality and integration with other tools.
• Monitor platform performance, usage, and adoption metrics to continuously improve effectiveness.
• Stay updated with Alation’s latest features (e.g., Agentic Platform, AI-driven automation) and recommend enhancements.
