Job description

Role Summary

The Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Product Owner is responsible for defining the strategic vision, roadmap, and value realization of the MES platform. This role ensures alignment with the organization’s digital manufacturing and transformation strategy , maximizes business value through MES capabilities, manages vendor relationships, and oversees the product lifecycle — from concept through continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, communicate, and maintain the MES product vision, strategy, and roadmap .
  • Develop business cases and ROI models to justify MES initiatives and investments.
  • Align the MES roadmap with corporate goals and digital transformation priorities .
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation for MES projects and enhancements.
  • Collaborate closely with IT, Operations, and Quality teams to ensure scalability, reliability, and compliance.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies (IoT, AI, Industry 4.0) to enhance MES functionality.
  • Oversee vendor management , including solution evaluations, upgrades, and contract negotiations.

  • System Scalability & Performance : Ability to support expansion and new functionalities.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction : Measured through surveys and feedback sessions.

  • MES Strategy & Lifecycle Management : Strong understanding of MES architecture, implementation, and optimization.
  • Vendor Management : Experience with major MES platforms such as AVEVA, Siemens, and Werum Pas-X.
  • Financial Acumen : Proficiency in ROI modeling, budgeting, and cost optimization.
  • Data Analytics & KPIs : Skilled at leveraging MES data for business intelligence and strategic decision-making.
  • Industry 4.0 Knowledge : Familiarity with IoT, AI, and cloud-based MES solutions.
  • Regulatory Awareness : Understanding of compliance standards such as CFR21 and ISO is a plus.
