An SAP BPC BW developer role typically involves a blend of technical and functional responsibilities related to SAP Business Warehouse (BW) and Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC), with a strong emphasis on ABAP programming and the implementation of Business Add-Ins (BADIs).
Key Responsibilities :
SAP BPC Implementation and Support :
Designing, configuring, and implementing SAP BPC solutions for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and consolidation.
Developing BPC dimensions, models, input schedules, reports, and logic scripts.
Integrating SAP BPC with SAP BW by designing data models (Info Objects, DSOs, Cubes) and Data Manager packages.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to BPC functionalities and data integration.
SAP BW Development and Integration :
Designing and developing data models, Info Providers, and Data Sources within SAP BW.
Developing custom ABAP programs for data extraction, transformation (routines, DTPs), and loading in BW.
Creating and maintaining Process Chains for automated data loading and processing.
Ensuring seamless integration between SAP BW and BPC.
ABAP Development and BADI Implementation :
Developing custom ABAP programs and routines to enhance BPC and BW functionalities.
Designing and implementing BADI enhancements to extend standard SAP BPC functionalities, such as complex allocations, validations, and custom business logic.
Utilizing Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts in ABAP for BADI development.
Debugging and testing BADI implementations to ensure correct functionality and performance.
Functional Expertise :
Working closely with finance stakeholders to understand planning requirements.
Translating business requirements into technical solutions within SAP BPC and BW.
Providing functional expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and consolidation processes.
Documentation and Testing :
Creating and maintaining technical specifications, design documents, and user training materials.
Conducting unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), and supporting user acceptance testing (UAT).
Required Skills :
Strong proficiency in SAP BPC (Standard or Embedded, depending on the role).
Expertise in SAP BW data modeling and development.
Strong ABAP programming skills, including Object-Oriented ABAP and BADI implementation.
Understanding of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting processes.
Experience with SAP HANA and related tools (e.g., HANA views, AMDP) is often preferred.
Familiarity with EPM add-in reporting and BPC web UI.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
