Summary of the position
Quality Control Engineer (Welding Engineer) has responsibilities of reviewing all Vendor manufacturing documents (e.G. Manufacturing Purchase Specification, Inspection and Test Plan, Welding Dossier covering WPS, PQR, repair procedures, Test Procedures, NDE Procedures etc.) to assure that they comply with Design and Manufacturing Codes and Standards and with specific Project Specifications. He reports to Procurement QC Manager (Project) and to the Inspection Department Manager.
Key Objectives & Responsibilities of the role
- Review of Project Specifications (Manufacturing, quality Control). Detection of inconsistencies, ambiguous interpretation or unusual requirements that could impact on price or Schedule.
- Review and comment all Vendor manufacturing documents of the assigned Purchase Orders (e.G. Reactors, Columns, Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Air Coolers, Fired Heaters, Reformers, Package Units, Piping Material).
- Main documents are : Welding Dossier, Inspection and Test Plan, Manufacturing Purchase Specification, Heat Treatment Procedure, Hydro / Leak / Pneumatic Test Procedure, Visual / Dimensional Control Procedure, Ferrite Test Procedure, Hardness Test Procedure, PMI Procedure, etc.
- Issue Technical Queries / Deviation Request to the Client when needed.
- Support to the Project Inspection Team in NCR resolution, and to all matters related to manufacturing of equipment / material.
- To have a fluent communication with Vendors in order to assure that Vendor understands all comments and Project requirements, with the aim to achieve a smooth manufacturing.
- Effective communicator and desired to have problem solving skills.
Technical Skills
Bachelor's degree in mechanical / metallurgical engineeringInternational Welding Engineer (IWE)Certified Welding Inspector (CWI / CSWIP)10-15 years’ experience in quality control of manufacturing and welding processes of static equipment, valve and piping components. Experience in producing / reviewing manufacturing and quality documents.Deep knowledge of ASME, API, ANSI, NACE Codes.Experienced in most used materials in Oil & Gas industry (Carbon Steel, Low Alloy Steel, Austenitic Stainless Steel, Duplex Stainless Steel, Ni Alloys, etc.)BGAS / NACE / FROSIO Painting and Coating QualificationAPI Certifications (Q36, 570, 571, SIFE)Experience in PQR QualificationNDT Level IIWorked FEED Projects
