About our client :
As the client prepares to scale, set up its finance & operations structure and possibly pursue external funding / loan procurement, this role will be pivotal in shaping the financial backbone of the business.
Role Overview
The CFO will be a
strategic partner to the CEO , responsible for financial planning, risk management, loan and funding strategy, and operational finance setup. The ideal candidate will have experience in growing companies, preferably in the pharmaceutical / chemical manufacturing sector, and in enterprises at or near the startup / scale‑up phase.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning
Develop and implement the company’s
financial strategy
aligned to growth objectives and manufacturing scale‑up.
Prepare
financial models, budgets and forecasts
that reflect manufacturing costs, CAPEX, OPEX, and projected revenues.
Advise on a funding strategy including
debt (loan) and equity
to support scaling manufacturing operations and R&D.
Loan & Funding Management
Lead the
loan procurement process
from banks, financial institutions or alternative lenders; prepare requisite documentation.
Negotiate financial terms and manage relationships with banks, investors and other financial partners.
Ensure optimal capital structure balancing cost of capital, measurement of risk and operational flexibility.
Financial Operations & Compliance
Establish robust
accounting systems, internal controls, and financial reporting frameworks
suitable for a manufacturing entity.
Ensure regulatory compliance with Indian corporate, tax, manufacturing and financial laws.
Define and implement
financial policies
(CAPEX approval, cost controls, working‑capital management, inventory controls).
Business & Risk Advisory
Provide financial insight to the executive team : cost‑structure analysis, margin improvement, production cost tracking, ROI for new projects.
Identify financial and operational risks (e.g., manufacturing ramp-up, supply chain, regulatory changes) and propose mitigation.
Monitor cash flow, working capital, key financial KPIs (e.g., margin, ROCE, asset utilisation).
Team Leadership
Build and lead the finance & accounting team, scale as company grows, develop talent, ensure managerial depth.
Foster a culture of financial discipline, transparency and accountability in a manufacturing environment.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience as CFO, VP Finance or Senior Finance Leader in manufacturing / chemical / pharmaceutical businesses or scale‑up ventures.
Strong expertise in financial planning, corporate finance, fundraising (particularly debt + equity) and risk management.
Hands‑on experience with loan procurement, banking relations and working capital / production financing.
Familiarity with India’s regulatory & compliance frameworks for manufacturing and finance.
Excellent analytical, negotiation and leadership skills; ability to operate in a fast‑changing, high‑growth environment.
MBA or equivalent advanced degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
