The Opportunity :
Join our newly formed Mumbai procurement team and work with a diverse range of marine and industrial automation products. You'll be sourcing from new markets, overseas suppliers, stockists, and directly from industrial and marine automation companies - giving you exposure to strategic procurement across multiple channels and geographies.

Key Responsibilities :
Procurement Operations (60%)
Handle daily procurement requisitions from sales team for unavailable inventory itemsSource marine and industrial automation products from multiple channels :New market vendors and suppliers (domestic and international)Overseas manufacturers and authorized distributorsStockists and dealers of marine / industrial automation equipmentDirect procurement from industrial and marine automation companiesOEM / brand principals and their authorized channelsGenerate RFQs based on customer specifications and technical requirementsValidate product specifications, compatibility, and quality parametersObtain competitive quotations from multiple suppliers across different geographiesNegotiate pricing, payment terms, credit periods, and delivery schedulesProcess Purchase Orders and track order fulfillmentCoordinate international shipments and import documentation when requiredVendor Management (25%)
Identify and onboard new vendors / suppliers across different sourcing channelsDevelop new market sources - explore untapped suppliers and regionsConduct vendor validation and due diligence (genuineness, reliability, quality, financial stability)Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers for repeat sourcingEvaluate vendor performance on quality, pricing, delivery timelines, and responsivenessDevelop contingency supplier networks for critical product categoriesAttend vendor meets, trade shows, and industry events for networkingData & Analysis (10%)
Maintain accurate procurement records in Excel and upcoming ERP systemTrack procurement metrics : conversion rates, average procurement time, order valuesAnalyze repeat customer queries to identify high-demand products for proactive stockingMonitor supplier pricing trends and market intelligenceProvide regular reports on procurement performance to ManagerCross-functional Collaboration (5%)
Work closely with Sales team to understand customer requirementsCoordinate with QC team for quality verification of procured itemsCollaborate with Warehouse team for inventory planning and logisticsSupport Finance team with vendor documentation and payment processingLiaise with Logistics / Import team for international procurement coordinationMust-Have Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Science, or EngineeringDiploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics is highly preferredExperience
3-5 years of hands-on B2B procurement experienceMandatory : Experience in Marine industry OR Industrial automation OR Electrical / Electronic equipment procurementProven track record of vendor development and negotiationExperience with multi-channel sourcing (not just catalogue buying)Exposure to new vendor identification and market developmentTechnical Knowledge
Working knowledge of marine automation equipment, industrial controls, or electrical / electronic instrumentationAbility to read technical specifications, datasheets, and equipment cataloguesUnderstanding of product compatibility, substitutions, and technical equivalentsBasic knowledge of marine / industrial automation brands (ABB, Siemens, Schneider, Allen Bradley, etc.)Skills
